Gerard Gallant met with the media following the win over Minnesota and said (NYR/MSG):
- Do you feel like that was one of the more complete efforts of the season, “A little bit, I wouldn’t say that, no. I thought two periods was real good, for sure.”
- On the first period, “Obviously we should have had 3-4 goals in the first period, obviously. We outplayed them, I liked the way we played the game and we come out of the period down 2-0. It was a funny period, but you gotta move on and battle back and that is what the guys talked about between periods.”
- Do you have any update on Kreider or Gauthier, “no…both upper body. Re-evaluate tomorrow.”
- On Adam Fox, “I like when he shoots the puck, he shoots it pretty good. That slap shot was a great shot on Fleury, caught him up high and then the goal, obviously. Keep shooting the puck, he’s gotta shoot the puck more, I’ve always said that, but he’s pretty good when he passes it too, so I’m not gonna mess with his game, trust me.”
- Did it feel you guys were dangerous throughout the game, “it did, I felt really good about our game tonight. For the most part it was a real good, solid game. Good, solid effort from our group.”
- Was there a period you didn’t like, “The third wasn’t great, after that third goal we got a little bit slow after that, but then we got the big goal at the end to tie it up. But the first two were outstanding, I thought the way we played the first two was really good.”
- What did you see on the tying goal in the third, “Honestly it was just a bunch of guys. Goodrow was going with Chytil and made some good plays around the net and it was just a scramble at the net.”
- Was it about time that OT/Shootout went in your favor, “Yea, we had that PP in OT and didn’t get it done, we had a couple of looks at it and didn’t score, but fortunately for us The Breadman was pretty good for us in the shootout and Kaapo Kakko was pretty good. I thought we deserved to win that hockey game the way that we played.”
- Does it seem like Trocheck, Kravtsov and Panarin are starting to work better, “Their coming. It’s coming, they created some good scoring chances and they are playing well.”
