Gerard Gallant met with the media following the Rangers win over Philly and said (MSG/NYR):
- On the game, “Yea, the third period was real good, I thought. I thought we played pretty well in the first period also, but the second period was a stinker for us and we bounced back and had a real good third period and found a way to get two points.”
- Was there anything said after the second period, “oh yea, there was something said (smile, laugh). Get back to work and back to basics, we were turning too many pucks over going East/West in the neutral zone and we had no momentum or forechecking at all. They know and have to get reminded sometimes.”
- On Tarasenko shooting the puck, “That was great to see, good for him. He had a nice opportunity and a real good night for him, that was great.”
- Is it important for Tarasenko to have a game like this, “I think it’s real important, I think he’s real excited and happy and I know that I am for him tonight, to get an OT winner shooting the puck, he made a good play on the other goals, so good for him. He had a good night and we’re trying to get our team together a little bit, lines together a little bit and he was real good tonight.”
- On Patrick Kane playing tomorrow, “who said? (laugh)
- Were guys thinking about Kane during the game, “I don’t think so. I’d be surprised if they were, I don’t know, you’d have to ask them. We focused on the game tonight and didn’t have a perfect 60 minutes, but we found a way to get two points. It’ll be exciting tomorrow, his first game with our group and we’ll meet him tomorrow morning, it’ll be fun.”
- On having a more full roster tomorrow, “yea, it’d be nice, but, honestly, the players didn’t mind it, there was nobody coming back to the bench gassed and I think they really enjoyed it to be honest with you.”
