5:08PM: Trouba has been suspended two games for elbowing.
The NHL video about the suspension says “as the puck bounces away Trouba snaps his elbow forward into the head of Dorofeyev with force knocking him to the ice and causing an injury.”
They add “it is important to note that we acknowledge that players often accidentally bring their elbows up as part of a natural motion when skating, stopping or playing the puck. This is not such a play. Trouba is not attempting to make a play on the puck, nor is this incidental contact that occurs as part of a natural motion while making a hockey play. Trouba needlessly snaps his elbow directly into the head of Dorofeyev with sufficient force to cause an injury.”
12:22PM: Jacob Trouba has a hearing for elbowing
Jacob Trouba has a phone hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for elbowing Vegas’ Pavel Dorofeyev.
From the NHL:
The incident occurred at 18:08 of the second period of the Golden Knights’ 5-2 win at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Following a face-off in the Rangers’ left defensive circle, Trouba hit Dorofeyev in the head with his left elbow after the two were jockeying for position.
No penalty was called on the play. Dorofeyev left the game and did not return.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: elbowing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
