San Jose has signed Alex Wennberg to a two-year deal worth $5 million per season.

Wennberg had a cap hit of $4.5 million on the deal that just expired.

Adam Rotter: Wennberg was never going to return. He came to the Rangers as advertised, a solid, top-nine forward that likes to pass and doesn’t seem to like to shoot. But he’s pro and played to just about what my expectations were when he was acquired.

It’s a short deal for Wennberg but a high cap hit that San Jose likely had to pay to lure him to join the Sharks.
