Adam Rotter:
- Another embarrassing loss for the Rangers, with nothing from the PP, shoddy coverage and some mistakes from Jonathan Quick.
- The Rangers were the better team in the first period but the Flyers were the better team in the final 40 minutes and it’s just hard to see how the Rangers can let that happen. I mean, it’s two bad teams and there was sloppy play all around, but Rangers were beaten again by an inferior, but more hard working team. The Flyers had 13 shots through two periods and then 17 in the third compared to only 7 for the Rangers.
- It’s ridiculous that Gabe Perreault was scratched tonight. I like Brett Berard getting back in, but not at the expense of Perreault. The issue is I’m not sure who else would come out that wouldn’t then be a major story, but maybe that doesn’t matter at this point. But Perreault needs to play tomorrow and the three games after that. Whether Peter Laviolette is the coach next season or not, Chris Drury needs to make sure that the focus in these last four games is about extra ice time for Perreault, Brennan Othmann, Brett Berard and even Matt Rempe.
- The Rangers are now one point, either lost by the Rangers or gained by Montreal, from being eliminated officially. A loss to the Isles tomorrow could do it or it could wait until Montreal plays on Friday.
- It was pretty great to hear Sam and JD call one last game. While I’m sure JD still has some resentment over how things ended when he was fired as President a few years ago, it was nice to see him when they celebrated Sam Rosen a few weeks ago and nice that he was there tonight for this game.
- For the last three years there was a feeling of waiting over the last few weeks for the playoffs to start and now there is a feeling of just waiting to see what shoe is going to drop when the season officially ends next Thursday.
