The Rangers have signed Matthew Robertson to a two-year extension.
Robertson played in the last two regular season games for the Rangers last season.
It is a two-way contract in the first year and a one-way contract for the league minimum in his second year. (Baugh)
Adam Rotter: There really isn’t very much downside in signing Robertson to this extension. He finally got a chance in the NHL at the end of the season and the entire left side of their defense is open at the moment. Maybe he’ll be a late bloomer, win a job in training camp and become a serviceable player for the Rangers. If not, he’ll go on waivers or become the seventh defenseman. He has good size and the Rangers need as much competition on the left side as they look to rebuild their defense.
