3/30/25 | Gabe Perreault and BC eliminated in NCAA Tournament

Rangers 2023 First Round Pick Gabe Perreault has been eliminated in the NCAA Tournament.

Perreault is expected to leave BC and turn pro.

He has 35 goals and 73 assists in 72 NCAA games.

2023 Third Round pick Drew Fortescue is believed to be returning to BC for next season. Colby Cohen said on the broadcast of BC vs Denver that he thinks Fortescue could eventually become Adam Fox’s partner on defense.

Adam Rotter: The expectation is that Perreault is going to sign, but we’ll have to see if Peter Laviolette puts him into a game and burns off the first year of his entry-level deal. Part of me wants to see Perreault and part of me wants the Rangers to sign him and maybe put him in Hartford so that they retain all three-years on his entry-level deal. The big question though is whether Laviolette, in the middle of trying to make the playoffs and possibly coaching for his job, is going to throw another young player into the lineup? With Matt Rempe out there is a spot as Laviolette could shift Jonny Brodzinski down to the fourth line and Perreault could skate next to Mika Zibanejad and fellow BC alum Chris Kreider. Nicolas Aube-Kubel, or unfortunately, probably Brett Berard, would come out to make room for Brodzinski on the fourth line. Maybe Will Cuylle gets bumped down to the third line and they throw Perreault right into it and put him next to JT Miller and Alexis Lafreniere. Or maybe Peter Laviolette decides that he trusts Brodzinski and Aube-Kubel and Perreault barely gets in.

We’ll see, but if Perreault is going to sign and stay in the NHL then I think he’s going to play, it’s just a matter of where and next to who.
