Rangers close to signing WHL forward Jake Elmer

3/15/19 | The Rangers have confirmed the signing of Elmer and, from their press release, add:

  • Elmer posted a 13-game goal streak from Feb. 8 to Mar. 6 (17 goals over the span), which was tied for the longest goal streak in the WHL since the 1996-97 season. In addition, Elmer enters the final weekend of the WHL regular season with an active 16-game point streak.
  • He received three awards from the team in 2018-19: Three Stars Award, Fan Favorite Award, and Community Relations Award.
  • The 6-1, 190-pounder is tied for the WHL lead in shorthanded goals (six), is tied for 11th in goals, is tied for 12th in game-winning goals (seven), is tied for 14th in shots on goal (245), and ranks 15th in points this season.

3/14/19 | Bob McKenzie tweets that the Rangers are close to signing forward Jake Elmer of the WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Elmer, 20, will sign a three-year entry-level deal that begins next season. (Brooks)

This season Elmer has 38 goals and 40 assists in 66 games while skating on a line with Dylan Cozens who is expected to be a high pick this year. (McKenzie)

Elmer scored 18 goals and 19 assists for Lethbridge last season in 70 games and had 4 goals and 9 assists in 16 playoff games.
