Pavel Buchnevich OUT against Montreal, Georgiev in net

2:35PM: On Buchnevich, Quinn said today “I think he is in a lot better place now and as much as I think he has been physically scarred by it, he’s been emotionally scarred by it. It gives you a cold dose of reality when you go through something like that and you feel so fortunate. He’s getting back to his old self and back on the ice soon.”

On guys stepping up, “A lot of guys have really made great strides. Kakko is playing much better hockey, Lemieux is playing better hockey. Howden had, I thought, one of his better games as a Ranger the other night. Staal has had a really, really good stretch, his last two months have been really good.”

On where Lundqvist is at since he hasn’t been playing, “that is something we’ve talked about, it’s part of the equation when deciding who is going to play.”

On Gauthier, “I love his size, speed, he can shoot the puck, very coachable. You can see why he’s had the career he’s had up to this point and was so highly thought of.”

Buchnevich missed Tuesday’s win over the Islanders as he recovers from the car accident he and Igor Shesterkin were in on Sunday.

On Buchnevich, David Quinn said on Wednesday, “The fact that is out there moving around is a good sign, I don’t know what will happen for tomorrow but he’s coming on the trip. I think the shock of what happened is starting to wear off. He’s certainly back to his self today.” (NYR)
