2021-22 Rangers

What Gerard Gallant said on Monday

Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • Is there any update on Kravtsov, “just day-to-day, basically the same thing.”
  • On the PP units, “this first time we really did it and they were all together, so I mean obviously that could be a unit, good chance it will be, but I’m not gonna say that for sure yet. We’re gonna look at different options.”
  • How close is it between Jones and Lundkvist, “they are close, both good young players, they both had good camps. Again, we pretty well know our top five/six guys but there’s a spot there available and see what’s gonna happen with it.”

  • How much does chemistry with Nemeth impact the decision, “no, whoever earns it. It’s gonna be a tough, and even whoever doesn’t make it is still going to be a big part of our future, there’s no doubt about that. They are young players and we’ll see where it goes.
  • What are your impressions of Nemeth, “very steady, strong, everything we thought from when we watched him in Colorado and the way he played the game. Big strong defenseman defensively, so we are real happy.”
  • Will the difference between Jones and Lundkvist be which is more ready defensively, “no, overall game. Again, it’s going to be a tough decision.”
  • Does righty/lefty play into it, “nope, Nemeth can play both sides.”
  • On Libor Hajek skating as a forward, “we didn’t want to use nine defensemen, so he skated up front. It doesn’t hurt him in practice.”
  • What are you looking to see in the last two preseason games, “pretty close to our team obviously, with the numbers we got left but, play the way we played the last two periods in Boston, you know, get ready for the first game and play better, play strong and continue to do what they did in the second and third period in the Boston game because
  • place Gong and continue to do what they did the last week or two in the second and third period of Boston game because that’s the way we want to play.”
