Rangers call up six for Taxi Squad, Jones and Gettinger called up to active roster

6:23PM: The Rangers have called up Zac Jones and Tim Gettinger from the taxi squad to the main roster.

1:44 PM: Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • On expectations for the first period tomorrow, “If it was just our team it would be different, but it’s the whole league, the team we are playing is in the same boat. I don’t know what the first period will be like tomorrow night, but it will be interesting to see and they are in the same boat. There could be mistakes both ways or it could be a real good period, I don’t know what to expect, to be honest with you. But I’m looking forward to it, I know the players are looking forward to it. The practices are fun, as coaches we can go over neutral zone stuff, d-zone stuff over the last three days, so that is good for the team, but whether it will work tomorrow night or not, we will see, but overall it will be good for us.”

  • Do you expect to bring one of the taxi squad forwards on the road trip, “I think everybody is coming…”
  • The entire taxi squad is coming, “I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure that is what we are planning on doing.”
  • What do you want to see them carry forward from the first 30 games, “Continue the same pattern, play good hockey, a 200ft game every night. It seems like it has been a long break, so those 30 games are gone, forgotten, lets make sure we are a real good team the next 52 games and fo from there. I want us playing good, sound hockey and we were doing that for a good part of the last 20 games.”

11:35 AM: Kevin Rooney is in Covid Protocol, joining Ryan Lindgren, Jarred Tinordi, and Alex Georgiev. (NYR)

11 AM: The Rangers have called up the following players to their taxi squad:

  • Morgan Barron
  • Jonny Brodzinski
  • Tim Gettinger
  • Adam Huska
  • Zac Jones
  • Matthew Robertson
