Gerard Gallant spoke after the Rangers loss in Calgary and said (NYR):

  • Is it too much time on the road, “I hope that is what it was. We were obviously pretty bad tonight. It’s been a grind and I’m glad we’re done playing Calgary, put it that way.”

  • Did you want more simplicity after losing Chytil, “definitely. It’s tough to lose one of your centers, who played really well the last game. It’s no excuse, it happens all the time, it’s tough to lose that and you change lines and put guys in there. There wasn’t a lot of energy, wasn’t a lot of – when you are tired you make bad plays and I saw a lot of that tonight.”
  • On consistency, “it hasn’t been there enough, but, like I’ve said, we’ve been on the road a lot and tonight was a real tough night. First period was okay, I thought it was two teams feeling each other out, there wasn’t much going on. For me, I was happy with the first period because, back to back nights for us, we couldn’t find our game.”
  • Any update on Chytil, “I haven’t heard nothing yet from the trainers.”
  • On having a short-term memory, “it’s going home, long flight tonight and then you get the day off and you need to get back at it with probably the best team in the league, so you’ve gotta forget about it. The game is over, no one likes to get embarrassed like that, but it’s one game and we gotta turn the page and play a lot better. We’re going back home, it’s nice to get home for a day and then after that next game hopefully we will play real hard and play real well because, as we said before, after these games like this and you come off after a long road trip usually you have a stinker at home, so maybe this will give the guys a little boost and say ‘let’s be ready for the next game.”
